Background	Human blood coagulation factor VII is a 50 kD, vitamin K dependent, plasma glycoprotein synthesized in the liver and secreted into the blood as a single chain zymogen of serine protease factor VIIa. Factor VII participates in a cascade of reactions leading to the coagulation of blood and contains two Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) domains. Factor VII participates in the extrinsic pathway of blood coagulation in an Activated form called factor VIIa. Factor VII can be converted to VIIa by Factor IXa or thrombin.
