Formulation	Each vial contains enough antiserum for 500 RIA tubes. The powder should be rehydrated with 50ml RIA buffer. Upon reconstitution to 50ml total volume, the solution contains 0.1M sodium phosphate buffer (pH 7.4), 0.05M NaCl, 0.1% BSA, 0.01% NaN3, and 0.1% Triton X-100. Store at 4°C. This should ensure antibody stability for approximately one month.

Background	Urocortin is a 40-amino acid peptide that in humans is encoded by the UCN gene. It belongs to the corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) family of proteins which includes CRF, urotensin I, sauvagine, urocortin II and urocortin III. Urocortin is expressed widely in the central and peripheral nervous systems, with a pattern similar to that of CRF. Areas of similarity between urocortin and CRF expression include the supraoptic nucleus and the hippocampus. It is also expressed in the median eminence, the Edinger-Westphal nucleus, and the sphenoid nucleus. Additionally, Urocortin is expressed in peripheral tissues such as the heart. It is involved in the mammalian stress response, and regulates aspects of appetite and stress response. This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with Urocortin coupled to a carrier protein.
