Protein Description | Heat shock factor 1 (HSF1) is a major transactivator of heat shock proteins in response to environmental changes, and it is also involved in oogenesis, spermatogenesis, and placental development. Best known for its involvement in heat shock response, Hsf1p regulates the transcription of hundreds of targets, including genes involved in protein folding, detoxification, energy generation, carbohydrate metabolism, and cell wall organization. Recombinant HSF1, fused to His tag, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques. |
Storage | Store undiluted at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots) at -20°C to -80°C for longer. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. |
Stability | Shelf life: one year from despatch. |

Summary | The product of this gene is a transcription factor that is rapidly induced after temperature stress and binds heat shock promoter elements (HSE). This protein plays a role in the regulation of lifespan. Expression of this gene is repressed by phosphorylation, which promotes binding by heat shock protein 90. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2017] |
