Background	C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) (32-53) is a 22 amino acid peptide released by endothelial cells, cardiomyocytes and fibroblasts that regulates vital physiological functions in the cardiovascular system. CNP is part of a natriuretic peptide system, together with atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP). CNP not only modulates vascular tone and blood pressure, but also governs cardiovascular effects including the control of inflammation, angiogenesis, atherosclerosis, cardiomyocyte contractility, hypertrophy, fibrosis, and cardiac electrophysiology. This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with CNP coupled to a carrier protein.
