Recommend Dilution | This product is intended for use in precipitating and non-precipitating antibody-binding assays (such as e.g., ELISA and Western blotting and Immunofluorescence or Histochemical techniques), to prepare an insoluble immuno-affinity adsorbent, for labelling with a marker of choice. Recommended Working Dilutions: Non-precipitating antibody-binding techniques: 1/1,000-1/6,000. |
Reactivity | Bacillus sp. |
Host | Rabbit |
Clonality | Polyclonal |
Immunogen | Subtilisin isolated and purified from Bacillus subtilis. Freund’s complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure. |
Specificity | Subtilisin from Bacillus subtilis. The reagents were evaluated for potency, purity and specificity using most or all of the following techniques: Immunoelectrophoresis, Cross-Immunoelectrophoresis, single Radial Immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony), block titration, ELISA, Immunoblotting and Enzyme Inhibition. Cross-reactivities against enzymes of other sources may occur but have not been determined. |

Background | Subtilisin (serine endopeptidase) is a non-specific protease (a protein-digesting enzyme) initially obtained from Bacillus subtilis. Subtilisins belong to subtilases, a group of serine proteases that initiate the nucleophilic attack on the peptide (amide) bond through a serine residue at the active site. They are physically and chemically well-characterized enzymes. Subtilisins typically have molecular weights of about 20,000 to 45,000 dalton. They can be obtained from soil bacteria, for example, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. Subtilisins are secreted in large amounts from many Bacillus species. Subtilisin is an extracellular alkaline serine protease, it catalyzes the hydrolysis of proteins and peptide amides. |
