Background	ACTRT1 is a member of the subfamily of actin related proteins (Arps). It is synthesised in the testis, late in spermatid differentiation, and is localizaed in the calyx. ACTRT1 is one of two novel Arps that are a major component in a cytoskeletal, nonmotile structure of mammalian spermatozoa the calyx.
