Background | The p34cdc2 is a 34 kDa phosphoprotein with protein kinase activity that functions in the G2/M phase transition of the cell cycle. Expression of p34cdc2 reflects the proliferating potential of positively staining tissue. The maximal activity of p34cdc2 is achieved when it is fully dephosphorylated. It is a 34kD catalytic subunit of maturation promoting factor (MPF) and complexes with both cyclin A and cyclin B in mammalian cells. |
Synonyms | CDK1, CDC2, CDC28A, CDKN1, P34CDC2, p34 protein kinase |
