Clone Name | 23C6 |
Applications | FC, IP |
Recommend Dilution | Flow Cytometry: Use 10 µl of 1/40-1/80 diluted antibody to label 10e6 cells in 100 µl. Immunoprecipitation. |
Reactivity | Chicken, Human |
Host | Mouse |
Clonality | Monoclonal |
Immunogen | Osteoclasts from osteoclastomas. Spleen cells from immunised mice were fused with cells of the mouse X63.Ag8.653 myeloma cell line. |
Specificity | This antibody recognises the intact complex formed between the CD51 and CD61 molecules (alpha V and beta 3 integrins). This complex binds vitronectin at the RGD sequence and can also bind fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor, thrombospondin, fibronectin, osteopontin and collagen. This antibody reacts with osteoclasts, placenta, melanoma cell lines and weakly with platelets. |
Formulation | PBS, pH 7.4, containing 0.09% Sodium Azide as preservative. State: Purified State: Liquid purified IgG fraction. |
Concentration | lot specific |
Purification | Affinity Chromatography on Protein A. |
Conjugation | Unconjugated |
Storage Condition | Store the antibody undiluted at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots) at -20°C for longer. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. |
Gene Name | integrin subunit alpha V |

Background | CD51/CD61 is an integrin complex known as alphaV beta3. It is expressed at high levels on osteoclasts, endothelial cells, and melanoma cells and at low levels on platelets and macrophages. CD51 is a heterodimer composed of disulfide-linked 125 kD and 24 kD proteins. CD61 is also a member of the integrin family known as gpIIIa or beta3 integrin. It is a 110 kD common beta subunit of CD51/CD61 or CD41/CD61 complex. CD51/CD61, also known as the vitronectin receptor, mediates the binding of platelets to immobilized vitronectin without prior activation. Other ligands include RGD-containing proteins such as fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor (vWf), laminin, thrombospondin and the neural adhesion molecule L1. CD51/CD61 also mediates cell-cell adhesion via interaction with CD31. CD51/CD61 acts as an activation-independent receptor for platelet attachment and spreading on vitronectin and other RGD-containing proteins, including matrix components. |
