Background LAIR-1 is a 40kD cell surface molecule that functions as an inhibitory receptor on natural killer cells, monocytes and T cells. LAIR-1, otherwise known as CD305, is also expressed by other haematopoeitic cells including B cells, but is not expressed by nonhaematopoietic, platelets or erythrocytes.
