Background	Eledoisin is an undecapeptide of mollusk origin, belonging to the tachykinin family of neuropeptides. Like all tachykinin peptides, Eledoisin shares the same consensus C-terminal sequence, that is, Phe-Xxx-Gly-Leu-Met-NH. It is a peptide extracted from the posterior salivary glands of certain small octopi (Eledone spp., Mollusca). Its actions resemble those of Substance P; it is a potent vasodilator and increases capillary permeability. This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with Eledoisin coupled to a carrier protein.
