Recommend Dilution	ELISA. Western blot (1/2,000-1/3,000). Immunohistochemistry on Paraffin Sections (10 µg/ml). This antibody was validated for use in immunohistochemistry on a panel of 21 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) human tissues after heat induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer. After incubation with the primary antibody, slides were incubated with biotinylated secondary antibody, followed by alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.

Background	Synaptobrevin 2 (Syb2) also known as vesicle associated membrane protein-2 (VAMP2) is a membrane protein that belongs to the v-SNARE family of proteins, and is an essential component in neurotransmitter exocytosis from the presynaptic membrane. It is expressed on the synaptic vesicle, where it is bound by synaptophysin. Synaptophysin targets the vesicle to the presynaptic membrane and releases Syb2, which forms a stable complex with syntaxin and SNAP-25 (both expressed on the target membrane). Nerve cell depolarization and influx of calcium leads to vesicle fusion and neurotransmitter release into the synapse.
