Gene Name C-C motif chemokine receptor 2
Background CCR2B is a 374 amino acid protein that belongs to the G - protein coupled receptor 1 family with seven transmembrane domains. It mediates the chemotactic properties of monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP - 1) which is secreted by endothelial and epithelial cells, vascular smooth muscle and hematopoietic cells. MCP - 1 is a potent chemoattractant for monocytes and lymphocytes. It is responsible for monocyte infiltration in a variety of chronic inflammatory diseases.
