Product Data | |
Clone Name | HIP8 |
Applications | FC, IHC |
Recommend Dilution | Flow Cytometry: (has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of human platelets. Can be used at less than or equal to 0.5 µg per 100 µl blood (per 10e6 cells). Immunohistochemistry (frozen sections). |
Reactivity | Human, Primate |
Host | Mouse |
Clonality | Monoclonal |
Specificity | The antibody reacts with alpha (a) subunit of CD41 (heavy chain; 120 kDa). CD41 is mainly expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes. The antibody blocks platelet aggregation and completely inhibits ADP-, epinephrine-, and collagen-induced platelet activation, and partially inhibits ristocetin- and thrombin-induced platelet activation. It is useful in the morphological and physiological studies of platelets and megakaryocytes. |
Formulation | Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 15 mM sodium azide, approx. pH 7.4 State: Purified State: Liquid Ig fraction |
Concentration | lot specific |
Purification | Protein-G affinity chromatography; purity: > 95% (by SDS-PAGE) |
Conjugation | Unconjugated |
Storage Condition | Store the antibody at 2 - 8 °C up to one month or (in aliquots) at -20 °C for longer. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. |
Gene Name | integrin subunit alpha 2b |

Background | CD41 (platelet glycoprotein IIb) is composed of two subunits (120 kDa a, a and 23 kDa b, b) that interact with CD61 in the presence of calcium to form a functional adhesive protein receptor. Upon blood vessel damage, this receptor binds to a variety of proteins including von Willebrand factor, fibrinogen, fibronectin and vitronectin. CD41 is mainly expressed on megakaryocyte-platelet lineage, but generally belongs to the antigens that are expressed during early stages of hematopoietic differentiation. |
Synonyms | Integrin alpha-IIb, GP2B, ITGAB, GPalpha IIb |
